Clash of Critters Horde Invasion Guide: Waves & Best Team
Rules
- Team up with a friend or a random partner; 3 rounds per active window; your score is your best round. The event runs every 3 hours — 2 hours open, 1 hour cooldown.
- Rewards are by placement and pay once per day; if you place higher later the same day you receive only the difference. You cannot out-earn the first-place daily payout.
- 35 waves, a boss at the end of each; waves 20, 25, 30 and 35 field two bosses. Before the Feb 11, 2026 update the run was 30 waves.
- Your camp cannot be interacted with while it is the one under attack.
- The Jul 29, 2026 patch added drag-to-deploy; “zombie horde” and “zobo horde” in searches mean this mode.
Horde-only skills
Every Tatari can be upgraded 7 times in Horde (stat bumps each time) and learns new skills at levels 3, 5 and 7. The level skills are shared by the whole evolution line; only the base skill differs by form, so an evolved Tatari is stronger but learns the same Horde kit. The full 62-line table is on the Horde tier list; each Tatari’s database page shows its line’s Horde skills too. Examples: Cheerling L5 “Just Dance” (periodic Invincibility to nearby allies), Droppit L7 “Sea Fog” (Super Fragile on all enemies), Rubblet L7 “Fault Line” (every attack quakes with Stun), Frugling L7 “Fruit Rain”.

Best team and formation
From the official Lightning guide’s Horde section: Zappur as early frontliner (Knockback, ally ATK buff), Cheerling as the essential support (“AoE Invincibility can be a game-changer”), Voltfawn as the carry, Zaplet as a mid/late carry once invested, Kittazap+Flameow as a duo; Zapuni and Voltkit only after heavy progression. Add one counter line per element (Pyropup/Shrimpyro for the many Grass bosses, Frugling for Rock, Frostnip/Sealing for Fire, Rubblet/Gibber for Lightning), a Super Fragile source (Droppit L7) and a team buff (Pandaroo L7, Sparkeet L7). Community builds (Budboo level 7, Poakie stun loops, Serrabloom, Sizzribb formations) are listed in the notes on the Horde tier list.
”Horde invasion formation” and “best team” searches
Because partners’ formations combine and chips/season modifiers change, there is no single formation; the stable rules are: all five elements present, a Knockback Guardian in each lane you expect a boss, Cheerling adjacent to your weakest lane, and level your Horde skills on the carries first (Voltfawn, Cheerling, Frugling). Season content (chips, Season 1 from mid-2026) is tracked by community channels; we add wiki-recorded details as they land.
